30 Day Action Plan
I have found in my experience if a person wishes to make a fundamental change in their life, it is going to take a great deal of commitment and dedication. Similar to how people make New Years’ resolutions, they start out fully committed, but often fall off within a period of a few weeks. I believe they start out with great intentions but it slowly starts to wither away… often without even making a conscious decision to do so. Anytime a person wishes to make a change, it is extremely important to stay fully engaged each and every day until the new habit is formed. Experts suggest this can take between 30-40 days to fully implement a new habit.
To stay committed to this process IT WILL take daily engagement. I have found it is essential to remind yourself each and everyday for at least 30 days why it is important in your life to make these changes. Whether it is to begin a fitness regime, to lose weight or to quit smoking, etc… you must remind yourself everyday why making that change is so crucial. By listing a new reason everyday for the next 30 days it will keep it fresh in your mind and spirit to why you are committing yourself to this change.
List a new reason every single day why making this change is so paramount. Only list one reason per day and do not fill out all 30 reasons the first day. This will keep it ever present in your mind each day, and really keep your juices flowing to why it is so important. About half way through the 30 days you may be struggling to come up with new and compelling reasons. This will however keep you fully engaged in the change process during those 30 days to create a new habit. This process has been very effective for me when I have committed to fundamental changes in my life. Much success in the pursuit of the changes you will make in your life.
